The Treatment

It begins, nothing but midnight black can be seen. As her voice trickles in, alongside the light drum beat, lamps (everywhere – in unison) suddenly awaken revealing a dark discarded room, a young scarcely beautiful girl placed in the middle. Subsequently, she is sat cross legged glancing into an open fireplace, the reflection of the flames flickering soothingly in her eyes will be revealed. As the singer fades out and the drums dominate, rain will rapidly tumble down and crash, a young boy viciously drumming against a wooden table will be exposed. The young girl emerges, her face almost against the camera, she is standing outside, and gruesome weather falls behind her, her hair is carried by the wind. As the music intensifies the camera spins round and round, emphasising the loneliness of this young girl. A dog antagonistically barking at the camera appears, slowed down the cold eyes and wildness is emphasised. A shot lingers for just a second, of the young girl at the head of a long, vintage dinner table, her family oblivious to her are lightly arguing. The hand held shot, from the eyes of the young girl, running up a steep hill in order to escape from this world she so obviously does not belong in, surfaces. As she reaches the top, she looks down at the beautiful view before her, a lit up city, her hand covers the lens – pushing away the outside world. As her hand is removed, a figure appears in a dimly lit doorway, a man, her father. The shot at the dinner table reappears, only this time the argument is out of control, her father, stood, is savagely yelling…yet there she remains, the shot zooms in on her blank emotion, her eyes locked on the camera. Rain crashing reappears for a second. She’s disappeared from the dinner table, gone, desperately she runs, through the front door and away from her dreary life. Outside she spins, spins in the rain, away from everything and everyone, finally a gentle smile graces her lips. It finishes.

  1. You brilliantly describe how you imagine the video. Add paragraphs 2 and 3.
